The Comic:

General Information
Hotarugari is an original webcomic created, written, and drawn by me, SAL. The comic is planned to be six issues long; each over 30 pages and shaded in grays.

The Title
Hotarugari 蛍狩り is a Japanese word meaning "firefly catching." Alone, hotaru means "firefly", and gari means "hunting."

The Beginning
I began drawing comic pages for Hotarugari in October 2009, but I've been conceptually working on it since March 2001. My siblings persuaded me to finally draw the story in the form of a comic after showing them my concept art.

The Artist:

General Information
I go by Sal or Salis, or Salison, but you can call me what you like. I love art and eating pineapple. My only goal in my artwork is to bring joy, inspire, and entertain others, so please enjoy!!

The Tools:

General Information
From start to finish for all Hotarugari comic pages I use a pencil, paper, PaintTool SAI, Adobe Photoshop 7, and 2 Intuos 4 WACOM Tablets. I do everything myself; from making my own PS7 brushes, to lettering by hand, to sketching, to inking, to shading, and everything in between.

Each page usually takes me a few hours to complete, although it varies depending on the complexity of the page. Normally the average page takes me about 6-8 hours, (an hour for sketching, 1 to 2 hours for inking, 1 to 3 hours for shading, etc.) This is my first official webcomic ever, so please bear with me!
